Trott extends Warwickshire deal

Of Jonathan Trott's 26 first-class centuries, 18 have been for the county he joined in 2002 and will remain with until the end of 2015
ICC Cricketer of the Year Jonathan Trott has signed a three-year contract extension with Warwickshire until the end of the 2015 season.
The 30-year-old centrally-contracted England batsman joined the county in 2002 and hit a record 245 on debut for the second XI. He continued the habit of making a century on debut in the 2003 County Championship against Sussex and on his Test bow to help England win the 2009 Ashes.
Trott, whose Warwickshire appearances since have been limited, has scored 11,206 first-class, 7,271 List A and 2,082 Twenty20 runs. Of his 26 first-class hundreds, 18 have been for Warwickshire.
Ranked eighth in the ICC’s Test batting rankings – four places behind England and county team-mate Ian Bell, Trott said: “It’s been fantastic to be part of the Warwickshire team for the last 10 years.
“We’ve got an exciting young squad that’s capable of challenging for trophies, an experienced and innovative coaching team, and some of the best facilities in world cricket. I’m looking forward to many more years here at Edgbaston.”
Ashley Giles, Warwickshire director of cricket, added: “Jonathan has made a massive impact at Warwickshire since joining the club, and it’s a great boost that he’s committed to playing his county cricket here at Edgbaston for the foreseeable future.
“He’s popular with everyone and we’re all delighted that’s he’s gone on to achieve so much with England over the last few years.”
“Having two of the world’s top 10 batsmen training here with the squad since we started our pre-season programme has been great for the younger members.
“Both are fantastic role models and we wish them well in upcoming tour of the UAE for England’s Test series against Pakistan.”
