Woakes suffers injury setback
Warwickshire have suffered a huge blow with the news Chris Woakes will miss the start of the new county season after damaging ankle ligaments during their pre-season tour of the Caribbean.
The all-rounder, who has played four one-day internationals and three Twenty20s for England, sustained the problem when diving to a stop a ball during the Barbados Twenty20 Cup final against Yorkshire at the Kensington Oval.
The 23-year-old is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks, which could see him miss at least four LV= County Championship matches and the start of the Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign.
Woakes was instrumental in Warwickshire securing a second-place finish in the championship last season, averaging 48 with the bat and 21 with the ball.
