Shropshire announce Worcestershire clash
Shropshire will play host to first-class neighbours Worcestershire in a showpiece Twenty20 fixture at Shrewsbury Cricket Club’s London Road ground on June 13.
Admission for the challenge match, which is scheduled to start at 5:30pm, will cost just £5.
The Pears could include former Shropshire player Jack Shantry in their line-up, while home captain Ed Foster is one of two Shropshire players with connections to Worcestershire. Foster had a spell with the county earlier in his career, while Stephen Leach is currently on the books at New Road.
"Twenty20 cricket has captured everyone's imagination and people like to watch it," said Foster. "The fact we are able to welcome Worcestershire again shows how strong the links we have with them are.
"Everyone's looking forward to it and I know there will be 25 players who will want to play for Shropshire in that game. To be able to bring the best cricket around to Shropshire is fantastic.
"Hopefully it doesn't rain, that it's a decent day, and we get a good crowd along to watch what should be an exciting game."
The match will act as a warm-up fixture for Worcestershire, who begin their Friends Life t20 campaign against Warwickshire 48 hours later.
