New Road fit to host Surrey match

Worcestershire will now play this week’s LV= County Championship Division One clash with Surrey at New Road after the pitch was cleared of flood water.

The four-day clash with Rory Hamilton-Brown’s side was switched to Kidderminster on Friday after flood water had made its way onto the outfield.

But, after an inspection at New Road today, Worcestershire confirmed the new drainage system had worked successfully and the game, which starts on Wednesday, will take place at its original venue.
