Burgin passes away

Former Yorkshire seamer Eric Burgin has died at the age of 88.

Burgin enjoyed the honour of sharing the new ball with the great Fred Trueman during his brief but impressive playing career for the White Rose.

The paceman played a total of 12 first-class matches, taking an outstanding 31 wickets at an average of just 25.64.

He leaves a widow, Betty, a son and a grandson. His funeral service takes place at Hutcliffe Wood, off Abbey Lane, Sheffield, at 10am on Friday 23 November.
