Yorkshire have signed former England seamer Steve Harmison from Durham on a one-month loan deal.

The 33-year-old, who featured in 63 Tests for his country, has joined with immediate effect and could make his debut against Hampshire when the White Rose return to LV= County Championship action on Wednesday.

Harmison has been with Durham since 1996 but has found his appearances limited this term.

Ex-England seamer Steve Harmison has signed for Yorkshire. He said: "I'm pleased that I can be helpful to Yorkshire at this point."

Yorkshire’s bowling attack has been decimated recently with Ryan Sidebottom incurring a calf injury and Mitchell Starc scheduled to link up with Australia A.

Harmison said: “It's been a frustrating first half of the season and I don't want to be playing second-team cricket.

“I'm pleased that I can be helpful to Yorkshire at this point, when they are struggling with their senior bowlers, and I'm looking forward to our first game on Wednesday.”

Durham’s chief executive David Harker said: "We are fortunate to have an especially strong bowling attack, who have been performing well.

“It's been a frustrating summer for everyone because of the bad weather, not least for Steve who has been unable to get sufficient overs under his belt in order to compete for a first-team place."

Durham have an option to recall the paceman should one of their one bowlers suffer an injury or be called up to England duty.
