Former Surrey all-rounder Lee Hodgson has signed a two-year contract with Yorkshire.
The 22-year-old scored 63 runs in an impressive LV County Championship debut for Surrey in 2008 after earning promotion from Surrey’s second XI with some useful performances, which included 4-44 and 85 with the bat against Yorkshire’s seconds XI at York in August.
“I am very pleased to have signed for Yorkshire,” Hodgson said. “It is my home county and it was my dream as a young lad to play for this club.
Hodgson played much of his early cricket for Saltburn Cricket Club in the North Yorkshire and South Durham League and progressed from there to become one of the MCC’s Young Cricketers from 2006.
“I popped in to Headingley Carnegie yesterday to undergo a medical and want to move down as soon as I can as I cannot wait to get started.”
Martyn Moxon, director of professional cricket, added: “Lee is someone who impressed us when he played for Surrey’s second team at York last year.
“He is an all-rounder who bowls at a decent pace and has the ability to score runs. He became available at the end of the season and we regard him as a very good prospect and an investment for the future.”
