Headingley Carnegie is set to have state-of-the-art drainage and irrigation systems installed in time for next summer when they host the fourth npower Ashes Test.
The ECB have awarded Yorkshire a £600,000 grant for the work to completely relay the outfield, increasing the amount of cricket played at the ground by reducing time lost to poor weather.
The county are already making plans to reschedule their final home LV County Championship fixture this season against Somerset, which is scheduled to commence on 17th September, so the work can begin at the earliest opportunity.
Yorkshire are currently in negotiations with Scarborough Cricket Club about relocating this fixture to North Marine Road, but are also considering a number of other opportunities.
