Yorkshire seamer Steve Patterson has signed a two-year contract extension which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2010 season.
Patterson, who has risen through the ranks at Yorkshire, made four LV County Championship appearances this season - taking 11 wickets at only 25.36.
He also picked up a memorable 8-1-18-2 in his only one-day performance, against Lancashire in the televised Friends Provident Trophy match at Headingley Carnegie.
The Hull-born right-arm bowler, who celebrates his 25th birthday on Friday, said: “I bowled well when I got my first team chances this summer and I am very pleased I have been given the opportunity to stay at the club where I have grown up.
“I am at the stage in my career where it is important for me to play regular first team cricket and I am going to work hard over the winter months to make sure that happens with Yorkshire.”
Yorkshire’s chief executive Stewart Regan said: “I am delighted that Steve has committed his future to the club. Whenever he got a chance this summer he took it with both hands and delivered important wickets when we needed them.
“He should get more chances in 2009 to cement a first team place and I am sure he has a bright future.”
