Martyn Moxon, right, will not bid a total farewell to Michael Vaughan, as he stays at Yorkshire in an advisory capacity
Michael Vaughan will retain his connection with Yorkshire this summer as a mentor for new captain Andrew Gale.
England’s Ashes-winning captain retired last summer but Yorkshire today announced the 35-year-old will remain involved with the county.
His brief will include helping to recruit new players, especially from overseas, and mentoring Gale in his first season in charge at Headingley Carnegie.
Gale, 26, also led England Lions on this winter’s tour of the United Arab Emirates.
Yorkshire director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon said: “I’m delighted that Michael has agreed to continue to work with us.
“I am very keen to utilise his extensive experience to help us to develop our exciting young talent.”
Since his retirement from first-class cricket last June, Vaughan has taken on a development position with International Sports Management, the company which represents Andrew Flintoff.
He also commentated for BBC Test Match Special during last summer's NatWest Series against Australia and the winter tour of South Africa.
