The construction of Headingley's new Carnegie pavilion continued apace in a year of financial stability for Yorkshire
Yorkshire have revealed a record pre-tax profit of £699,000 for the financial year.
The figures mark the fourth consecutive year that the county have posted an annual profit and they will also announce a record turnover of £8.4million when they hold their annual general meeting on March 13.
The club’s hosting of the fourth npower Ashes Test of last summer is the major factor behind the figures although Yorkshire also achieved impressive growth in all income areas, seeing a rise of 13.4% in commercial revenue and a 22.3% rise in subscriptions. The surplus for 2009 is up 90% on the same period last year.
The year had also seen the continued construction of the Carnegie Pavilion at the Kirkstall Lane end of their Headingley Carnegie ground.
The £21m new pavilion, scheduled to open in June, will feature new facilities for players and media, along with an upper tier of exclusive seats and hospitality facilities.
Yorkshire chief executive Stewart Regan said: “The last 12 months have seen the busiest period of activity since I joined the club some four years ago.
“We have held two major international cricket events, including the fourth npower Ashes Test, we have commenced construction of the Carnegie Pavilion in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University, we have completely relaid the outfield and installed new drainage and irrigation systems, as well as installing the largest replay screen in professional sport.
“This has meant some very long working hours for all of the staff here at the club and I am very proud of each and every one of them for their contribution to another fantastic trading performance.”
