Yorkshire to let Guy go

Yorkshire have decided not to renew Simon Guy’s contract, allowing the wicketkeeper to seek new employers next season.
Young gloveman Jonathan Bairstow has limited first-team opportunities for Guy and counterpart Gerard Brophy this season.
The 30-year-old from Rotherham, who underwent surgery for a cerebral abscess in February, is a product of the Yorkshire academy and made his first-class debut in 2000.
Yorkshire director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon said: “It was a difficult decision to release Simon after so many years excellent service to the club.
“Ultimately it was felt to be in the best interests of the club and the player to part company as we were not going to be able to give him the opportunities he needs at this stage of his career.
“Simon has been a fantastic member of the Yorkshire squad for many years and a tremendous individual to work with. His enthusiasm, boundless energy and positive attitude were a great example to everyone. I wish him every success for the future.”
