Durham have offered their full support to Steve Harmison following his decision to retire from one-day international cricket.
The county’s England paceman has endured a difficult Ashes series in Australia having come back from injury problems last summer.
Harmison, 28, has played 46 one-day internationals but has withdrawn from the World Cup reckoning to concentrate on his Test career.
Durham chief executive David Harker told the club’s official website: “Obviously Stephen knows what is best in terms of his career. I am sure that this decision will have been made with a great deal of thought and we fully support the choice he has made.
“We are incredibly proud of his international record; he has made an significant contribution to the one-day side since his debut in 2002.
“We will look forward to seeing him continue his involvement in the Test squad and of course his future with Durham.”
