Anderson on Lancashire duty
Lancashire will be bolstered by the presence of James Anderson for tonight’s Friends life t20 clash with Durham.
Overlooked by England for tomorrow’s Twenty20 international against Sri Lanka at Bristol, the pace bowler has been named in Lancashire’s 14-man squad for the trip to the Emirates Durham ICG.
Durham, however, will be without another familiar England face as Paul Collingwood rests a groin strain in the hope of being fit for next week’s top-of-the-table LV= County Championship meeting with the same opponents. Graham Onions also sits out this evening’s match with the championship encounter in mind.
It represents Anderson’s fourth domestic t20 game in the last three seasons due largely to international commitments, after which he is set to join the England squad ahead of the NatWest Series starting at the Kia Oval next Tuesday.
Lancashire will be captained once again by Steven Croft as Glen Chapple continues his recovery from a hip injury, while left-arm spinner Simon Kerrigan is absent with a side strain.
They sit third in the North Group despite losing three of their last five games - a point above Durham in fifth.
