Worcestershire are hopeful they can finally unleash Sohail Tanvir when they travel to face Midlands/Wales/West Group leaders Somerset in the Friends Life t20.

The Pakistan paceman, who has played two Tests, 48 one-day internationals and 21 Twenty20s for his country, was signed as a replacement for compatriot Saeed Ajmal and was due to be available for all 10 group fixtures.

A call-up to Pakistan’s one-day squad for the series against Sri Lanka and visa problems delayed his arrival, but he could make his long-awaited debut tomorrow.

Somerset will be hoping to bounce back from their shock nine-wicket defeat to Gloucestershire on Friday and may give all-rounder Peter Trego a recall.

In the North Group, Lancashire face Derbyshire and have added batsman Jordan Clark and spinner Simon Kerrigan to the side that were beaten by Roses rivals Yorkshire in their last 20-over outing.

Head coach Peter Moores is still hopeful his side can claim a quarter-final place despite their 19-run defeat at Headingley Carnegie.

“When you start off, you look at probably 14 points to qualify,” Moores told Lancashire’s official website.

“It might be a bit less. You try to keep things in your own control. You don't want to get into a situation where you've got to win and somebody else has got to lose. It's still in our control at the moment.

“We'll target the next game. We know what we want long-term, but there's no point looking ahead at Notts on Tuesday until we've got Derby out of the way. That's two points up for grabs, and we'll be up for it.”

Durham have included Will Smith and Chris Rushworth in their 13-man squad to host defending champions Leicestershire, who won a last-ball thriller against Derbyshire last night.
