No play at soggy SWALEC
Somerset’s bid to reach the Friends Life t20 quarter-finals was held up after rain forced the abandonment of their match against the Welsh Dragons without a ball bowled at the SWALEC Stadium.
The Dragons have now seen five of their nine games finish as a no result due to inclement weather.
Heavy rain had been falling in Cardiff since 2.30pm and umpires Neil Bainton and Mark Benson had no choice but to call the match off at 7pm.
Somerset now have just one more crucial group match against Worcestershire at New Road on Sunday.
The Dragons, who have only won one t20 encounter this summer - a rain-affected game against Warwickshire, take on the Bears at Edgbaston in their final fixture.
