Roses get watered at Old Trafford
Heavy rain forced the Friends Life t20 match between Lancashire and Yorkshire at Old Trafford to be abandoned without a ball bowled.
After a day in which the downpours had not ceased in Manchester and with the weather forecast giving no cause for optimism, umpires Steve Garratt and Steve O'Shaughnessy inspected the ground at 4.30pm and had little option but to call off the game.
The washout is another blow to Lancashire's hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals. Glen Chapple's side must now win at Durham on Sunday and hope that results in the other two groups go their way.
By contrast, North Group leaders Yorkshire have already secured a place in the last eight and will secure a home tie if they beat Derbyshire at Headingley Carnegie on Sunday.
