Northamptonshire and Derbyshire’s hopes of kick-starting their Friends Life t20 campaigns were thwarted as persistent rain washed out their match at Wantage Road.

Rain began to fall over an hour before the scheduled start time of 6.50pm and umpires Richard Illingworth and David Millns called the game off at 7.45.

The Steelbacks will be looking to lift themselves off the bottom of the North Group when they play Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge tomorrow, while Derbyshire, who have also won just once in this year’s competition, have a home clash against Leicestershire to look forward to.
