Pietersen set for Surrey action
England batsman Kevin Pietersen has been included in Surrey’s squad for their Friends Life t20 match against Glamorgan at the Kia Oval tomorrow night.
Pietersen returns to county action after striking 72 in the second innings of the second npower Test against Sri Lanka at Lord’s and will look to help Surrey bounce back from a seven-wicket defeat to his former club Hampshire last time out.
He is also set to feature against Gloucestershire on the following day.
Surrey professional cricket manager Chris Adams welcomed Pietersen’s availability. “It’s great news,” he said. “We bring a quality player into the side and I’m looking forward to seeing him play.”
Sean Ervine could make his first t20 appearance of the season when Hampshire travel to Bristol to face Gloucestershire tomorrow.
Ervine has been on the sidelines since suffering an ankle injury in the warm-up ahead of a Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Surrey last month.
However, he has now recovered and has been named in a 14-man squad.
Lancashire captain Glen Chapple looks set to return for their Roses clash with Yorkshire at Old Trafford.
However, England seamer James Anderson is unavailable although he could return for Sunday's encounter with Worcestershire as he bids to prove his fitness to the national selectors following a side strain picked up in the first Test against Sri Lanka.
Nottinghamshire, who have won all three of their FLt20 matches this season, keep faith with the team that beat Warwickshire yesterday for their games against Leicestershire tomorrow and Warwickshire on Saturday.
