Stephen Moore’s half-century helped Lancashire to a comfortable Friends Life t20 North Group win over reigning champions Leicestershire, who have now lost their opening two games.

Moore’s 58, from just 44 balls, underpinned an impressive total of 154 for six after the Red Rose lost the toss.

Glen Chapple immediately undermined the reply by getting rid of Ramnaresh Sarwan and, despite Josh Cobb’s 32, the Foxes were struggling at 73 for five.

Abdul Razzaq briefly raised hopes of a home victory, hitting two maximums en route to a 27-ball 36, but fell to Yasir Arafat to end all hope.

Durham got off to a perfect start in the FLt20 as they edged to a two-run victory over Yorkshire.

Having been asked to bat at Headingley Carnegie, Durham were thankful for a 28-ball 36 from Ben Stokes as they posted a respectable first-innings total of 142 for six.

The White Rose initially could not get going in their reply, with Graham Onions claiming 2-24, as they slipped to 122 for eight.

Yet Azeem Rafiq produced a marvellous riposte, hitting the first ball of the final over for six to leave Yorkshire needing eight from the last five.

However, he could not deliver the four required from two deliveries as Scott Borthwick held his nerve; the hosts finished on 140 for eight, with Rafiq unbeaten on 21.

Bad weather meant the encounter between Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire fell foul of being abandoned without a ball bowled, as did Warwickshire’s Midlands/Wales/West Group match against Gloucestershire.
