Cook and Bopara back for Essex

Ravi Bopara and Alastair Cook are set to return to t20 action for Essex Eagles after their England Lions commitments yesterday

Essex Eagles have been boosted by the news that both Ravi Bopara and Alastair Cook are available for tonight’s trip to the Brit Insurance Oval to face Kent Spitfires in the Friends Provident t20.

The pair return to county duty after their recent involvement with England Lions, although Essex will miss the services of Danish Kaneria, who has joined the Pakistan squad ahead of their two-Test series against Australia.

Nottinghamshire paceman Andy Carter has also been added to Eagles' 14-man squad after he agreed a month-long loan deal earlier this week.

Worcestershire Royals captain Vikram Solanki looks set to make an early return from injury against Durham Dynamos at New Road.
Solanki had been sidelined by to a pelvic problem but began running again earlier in the week and is expected to be fit ahead of schedule.

Liam Plunkett has been named in Durham’s 13-man squad after returning from England Lions duty.

Hampshire Royals welcome Abdul Razzaq back into the squad for the trip to Taunton to take on the Somerset Sabres.

The Pakistan all-rounder has missed the best part of a month for his county due to international commitments, but is in line to return to domestic action along with Australian Dan Christian, who has recovered from a calf injury.

Opening batsman Michael Carberry may also feature for Hampshire after being rested for much of the t20 competition, while Somerset welcome back Peter Trego from England Lions duty.

Steven Davies, another England Lions player, returns to the Surrey Lions squad against Glamorgan Dragons at the SWALEC Stadium.

However, Mark Ramprakash misses out after injuring a shoulder when he was run out in last night's defeat by Middlesex Panthers. He will need two days to recover.

Australia international Shaun Tait has had to withdraw from Dragons' squad after returing from international duty with sore shins.

The face bowler failed a fitness test this morning but is hopeful he will be return to action on Sunday when Glamorgan meet Kent Spitfires.
