Washout at Edgbaston
Rain ruled at Edgbaston as Warwickshire’s Friends Life t20 Midlands/Wales/West Group match against Gloucestershire was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Overnight precipitation at the ground was followed by a day of increasingly heavy showers which left pools of water standing on the outfield.
Even with a state-of-the-art sand-based outfield and drainage system and attempts to mop up by the groundstaff, the playing area was saturated, leaving umpires Nick Cook and Jeff Evans to abandon the match an hour after the scheduled 5:10pm start.
The washout gave Warwickshire their first point of this season's competition following Wednesday's defeat by Somerset at Taunton.
