Tom Smith, above, and Stephen Moore hit unbeaten half-centuries to steer Lancashire to a crushing 10-wicket victory at Warwickshire

Stephen Parry revived Lancashire's hopes of a Friends Life t20 quarter-final place by claiming a competition-best 4-23 to set up a crushing 10-wicket win over Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Parry was joint leading wicket-taker, alongside Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid, with 26 in last year's North Group but had taken only two wickets in Lancashire's previous six group matches this season.

He found a slow pitch to his liking and helped dismiss Warwickshire for 109 - their lowest Twenty20 total.

Lancashire romped home in a one-sided contest with unbeaten knocks of 52 and 58 from openers Stephen Moore and Tom Smith respectively. They won with seven overs to spare.

Parry took a wicket in each of his four overs after he was swept for Warwickshire's only six by Darren Maddy in his first.

Parry took his revenge when he trapped Maddy leg before sweeping before Rikki Clarke was bowled playing forward to a quicker ball, Jim Troughton was caught behind dabbing and Keith Barker was well held by Gary Keedy running in from deep square-leg.

Keedy also bowled a miserly four-over stint which included the wicket of Tim Ambrose, who was well taken by wicketkeeper Gareth Cross.

Former England seamer Sajid Mahmood set the tone with 3-13. He had opener Neil Carter taken at deep square-leg then pinned Varun Chopra lbw next ball. He returned later to dismiss Steffan Piolet.

Piolet was the only batsman to reach 20 as Warwickshire fell one short of their previous lowest total, made against Northamptonshire only two weeks ago.

Lancashire had plenty of time to pace their chase but Moore and Smith opted to finish the match quickly.

Moore struck three sixes in the first two overs, upper-cutting Chris Woakes then on-driving and pulling Carter. Smith lifted Woakes for another six over long-on then pulled off-spinner Jeetan Patel over the boundary.

Moore completed his fifty from 32 balls while Smith needed only three more for his half-century, reached by straight-driving Patel.

He repeated the stroke next ball to level the scores then scrambled a single to clinch Lancashire's first win in five matches.
