Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, joint leaders of the Friends Life t20 North Group, were forced to share the points when bad weather had the final say on a damp afternoon at Scarborough.

Although the match began promptly on the sodden North Marine Road ground, there were two stoppages to the Nottinghamshire innings before the game was finally called off with the visitors on 105 for three after 14 overs.

Scarborough rain

Nottinghamshire and Yorskhire were left rueing the inclement weather as their top-of-the-table FLt20 North Group clash was ruined today

With Andrew Gale still out through a hip injury, Yorkshire were again captained by 21-year-old Azeem Rafiq, who decided to field first upon winning the toss.

It paid immediate dividends when Ryan Sidebottom struck with his third ball, bowling Michael Lumb as he attempted to drive.

Sidebottom was punished in his next over, off which Riki Wessels and Adam Voges helped themselves to 17 runs. However, the former was then caught by Phil Jaques at midwicket off Mitchell Starc, for 12.

Voges and James Taylor put on 45 for the third wicket in seven overs but Moin Ashraf had the former coolly caught at long-on by Joe Root for 29 off 30 balls.

After the first stoppage for rain at 76 for three in 11.1 overs, Chris Read smacked Ashraf for six and he and Taylor each hit fours in the same over.

Nottinghamshire were getting on top when the rain returned again with Taylor on 41 and Read 15, but umpires Nigel Cowley and Michael Gough had no option but to call the game off at 5pm.
