Matthew Hoggard is in line for his first cricket in a fortnight after recovering from a broken thumb.
The England seamer has been included in Yorkshire’s 13-man squad for today’s Friends Provident Trophy quarter-final against Gloucestershire at Bristol.
Hoggard was forced to pull out of the England party for the second Test against New Zealand last month after being hit by a delivery from Durham paceman - and England team-mate - Steve Harmison.
Hoggard is not usually considered for one-day fixtures but makes the trip due to injuries while captain Darren Gough (back) and Anthony McGrath (illness) are also in the party.
Wicketkeeper Steve Adshead returns for Gloucestershire after missing the last group game with a hamstring injury while William Porterfield and Carl Greenidge are also included in the squad.
Opener Will Jefferson is in line for a recall to the Nottinghamshire side in their last-eight clash against Durham at the Riverside.
Bilal Shafayat and Graeme Swann opened the batting in the group-stage defeat by Leicestershire but director of cricket Mick Newell is set to turn to Jefferson after his 77 for the second XI last week.
Newell said: “Will is a quality player. He went away and scored runs for the second team and I have to back his ability.”
Notts will be looking for revenge after being knocked out by Durham in the same competition last season.
Graham Onions remains on the sidelines for the North East side with a heel injury while fellow England hopeful Liam Plunkett is still ruled out by a rib problem.
Plunkett has not played yet this season but is due to turn out for the second team later this week. One-day specialist Neil Killeen (calf) is also out.
Meanwhile, Kent coach Simon Willis has urged his players to make the most of home advantage when they take on Somerset at Canterbury.
He told www.kent-ccc.co.uk: “Everyone is well up for the game. We are playing good cricket and it’s a massive one for us.
“We have the home advantage and it is on the television so everyone will want to show what they can do and put on a good display.
“It promises to be a cracking tie because Somerset are a very good team, as we saw at Tunbridge Wells recently. Let’s hope that home advantage helps us and we can book our place in the last four.”
Somerset have named a strong squad with only Andy Caddick missing as he continues his recovery from a neck injury.
The 39-year-old former England bowler is, however, in contention for Somerset’s next LV County Championship match against Yorkshire, beginning on Friday.
The final last-eight clash sees Leicestershire host Essex, and Foxes coach Tim Boon is expecting a stern challenge from the Eagles.
“They are a formidable team and have some excellent one-day players,” he told www.leicestershireccc.com.
“Ravi Bopara is an excellent one-day player, and without mentioning all of their names, they have been very competitive in one-day cricket over the years.
“We showed down at Essex in the Championship that we are a match for them and I expect it to be extremely competitive.”
Essex have brought in Grant Flower and Graham Napier from the squad that travelled to Worcestershire for the last County Championship match with Tom Westley and Maurice Chambers left out.
Tim Phillips is unavailable after knee surgery.
