Murray Goodwin has extended his contract with Sussex taking his stay at Hove to the end of the 2009 season.
The Zimbabwean joined Sussex as an overseas player in 2001 and became an instant hit with supporters and players alike being named as joint Sussex Player of the Year.
The Kolpak player was instrumental in the current championship winning side, topping Sussex’s batting averages for a second successive season, and in 2003 when his club record 335 against Leicestershire at Hove secured their first county title.
Goodwin said: “It was not a hard decision to make when the offer came. I'm grateful the club look upon me as a valuable player and I would love to play beyond 2009 if I am still enjoying it.”
Professional cricket manager, Mark Robinson, said: “I think it sends out a very positive message. Murray believes the county will continue to be successful and knowing we can count on Murray for the next three years gives our batting good stability.”
