Groenewald goes top
Warwickshire all-rounder Tim Groenewald has knocked David Hussey off the top of a congested Sky Sports Sixes League.
The four most prolific batsmen are separated only by balls faced, with Groenewald’s boundary in the narrow Twenty20 Cup quarter-final defeat to Lancashire taking his tally of sixes this season to 19.
Hussey, who has led the table for much of the summer, slips to third as Luke Wright - the most prolific Twenty20 batsman in the country, climbs to second courtesy of three maximums in Sussex’s Twenty20 Cup win over Yorkshire. Graeme Hick sits in fourth place.
The Sky Sports Sixes League ranks the top ten batsmen that have hit the most sixes in Friends Provident, Twenty20 Cup and NatWest Pro40 matches.
It provides batsmen with another incentive for big-hitting with £2,000 and the sixes trophy for the winner, plus awards for each month’s big hitter. David Hussey won the award in May and Graeme Hick in June.
