Hampshire sign Voges
Australia batsman Adam Voges has joined Hampshire as a replacement for compatriot Stuart Clark.
The 27-year-old hard-hitting right-hander from Western Australia, whose 64-ball century two years ago is the fastest in Australian domestic cricket, is set to play in the Twenty20 Cup, which begins on Friday.
Voges was included in Australia’s squad for the third Ashes Test last winter and featured in the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy one-day series against New Zealand in February.
He will provide cover for Clark, who returns home after Wednesday’s Friends Provident Trophy semi-final against Warwickshire at the Rose Bowl.
Hampshire team manager Paul Terry said: “I'm looking forward to Adam joining us for the Twenty20 competition.
“Having coached Adam in Perth, I know first hand what an explosive contribution he will make to the squad.”
