Kent hope their pre-season friendly against Nottinghamshire at Canterbury can get under way on Thursday after the first day was washed out.
The match was scheduled to last three days but inclement weather has reduced it to a maximum of two.
Three other friendlies are set to begin on Thursday all of which are scheduled for two days’ play.
LV County Champions Sussex, who beat Glamorgan in back-to-back one-day fixtures earlier this week, host Gloucestershire at Hove.
Sussex won the toss and chose to bat first - for 60 overs before the visitors face the remaining 40 overs on day one. The hosts will resume their innings for the first 40 overs on Friday before Gloucestershire have 60 overs to chase their target.
Essex begin their domestic pre-season preparations, following their involvement in the Pro ARCH Trophy in Abu Dhabi, against rivals Middlesex at Chelmsford.
Each of the two days consists of three two-hour sessions with a minimum of 96 overs scheduled per day. Neither team will bat for more than 96 overs in an innings.
Worcestershire play at New Road for the second time since the floods last summer on the first day of their game against Leicestershire.
The second day will be played at Grace Road with the host team batting on both days under County Championship playing conditions.
