Kent have re-appointed Robert Key as captain for 2008 after winning the Twenty20 Trophy and maintaining their Division One status in the LV County Championship under his stewardship in 2007.

Key, who took over the captaincy from David Fulton in 2006, is predicting imminent new signings in pursuit of further success in 2008.

Key said: "I am delighted to be given the chance to Captain the Club again in 2008. We made good progress in 2007 and I believe we have the players to do even better next season.

“We will be announcing exciting new additions to the squad shortly with a view to building further on the success achieved last year."

Kent’s championship season starts on Wednesday 16 April against Nottinghamshire at Canterbury followed by their first fixture in the Friends Provident Trophy away to Essex Eagles on Sunday 20 April.

Kent begin the defence of their Twenty20 title on Wednesday 11 June with a visit to Canterbury by the Sussex Sharks.
