Lancashire join the jetset
Lancashire have joined the jetset this week and linked up with low fares airline flyglobespan.
The Edinburgh-based airline has been flying twice a week from Manchester to Cape Town since November, the first scheduled service between the two destinations.
They will fly the Lancashire team to the South African destination for their pre-season tour in March and have entered into a partnership which sees the flyglobespan name displayed around the Old Trafford stadium and on the club’s website.
The award-winning airline’s website now offers flights from 15 British and Irish airports to 29 worldwide destinations with a fleet of 20 aircraft.
Lancashire cricket manager, Mike Watkinson, said: “I’m delighted that we have linked up with such an exciting company as flyglobespan.
“The lads are looking forward to be flying to Cape Town again for the warm-up matches and to be travelling direct to South Africa with an airline which has such a good reputation as flyglobespan. I’m sure that it will be a great partnership.”
Flyglobespan chairman, Tom Dalrymple, welcomed his company’s relationship with Lancashire Cricket Club.
“This partnership emphasises our commitment to the area and to expanding our business from Manchester Airport. I wish the lads the best of luck in their warm-up matches and for the season ahead,” he said.
The Lancashire team fly out from Manchester Airport to Cape Town on Monday 19th March and return on Sunday 1st April 2007.
