Liddle joins Sussex

County champions Sussex have completed the signing of left-arm seamer Chris Liddle from Leicestershire.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal after finding first XI opportunities hard to come by at Grace Road.

He played just four Liverpool Victoria County Championship matches last season, taking nine wickets at an average of 40.

“It’s a privilege to join the best club in county cricket,” said Liddle.

“They've had a marvellous season with winning both the C&G Trophy and the Liverpool Victoria County Championship.

“I can't wait to get down to Hove and to impress. I am really looking forward to joining Sussex, becoming part of a great team and a member of the unique Sussex family.”

Cricket manager Mark Robinson added: “We are delighted to capture such an exciting prospect.

“Chris has the potential to bowl a very lively ball and, with his natural left-arm variation, should prove an attractive asset to the squad and, as a person, should fit well into our family atmosphere.”
