Ackerman in line for Leics return

HD Ackerman has shaken off a thumb injury and is expected to feature for Leicestershire

Batsman HD Ackerman will come back into the selection equation for Leicestershire's trip to Derbyshire in Division Two of the LV= County Championship.

Ackerman, who made a superb 180 in the previous four-day game against Surrey, returns after missing the Twenty20 week with a thumb injury.

The 36-year-old will compete for a place alongside Boeta Dippenaar, Claude Henderson and Iain O'Brien as Leicestershire adhere to their policy of only selecting three non-qualified players.

Bowlers Jigar Naik (broken arm), Sam Cliff (shins) and Nadeem Malik (groin) all miss out again, although Wayne White and AJ Harris should shake off ankle and foot problems respectively to face their former side.

Derbyshire have a full squad to chose from although Head of Cricket Jon Morris still has a couple of selection quandaries ahead of the game.

Fast bowler Nantie Hayward, who has impressed during the Twenty20 Cup in recent weeks, is in the frame for a starting berth however he has not bowled in a four-day game for nearly a year.

Jon Clare is fit following a shoulder injury but is not likely to play given his lack of match practice, with a run out in the second XI more likely.
