Dernbach in line for Surrey outing
Teenage quick bowler Jade Dernbach is in line to make his Frizzell County Championship debut for Surrey against Sussex at Hove after featuring in the county's one-day and Twenty20 side recently.
The 19-year-old has performed well in second XI cricket this season and took 7-130 in a recent match after joining the full-time staff last year.
Dernbach will play unless captain Mark Ramprakash chooses to go with two spinners in Nayan Doshi and Ian Salisbury, which is unlikely as seamer Martin Bicknell is missing with an Achilles tendon problem that will keep him out for around four weeks.
All-rounder Carl Hopkinson returns to the Sussex side in place of pace bowler Jason Lewry, who is still suffering with a side strain.
The south coast county are without batsman Ian Ward (groin strain) and bowler Mark Davis (dislocated thumb) but Chris Adams (left) is back to lead the side once more after missing Monday’s totesport League win over Somerset.
