England skippers set to clash
England captains Michael Vaughan and Paul Collingwood are set to face one another when LV County Championship leaders Yorkshire face Durham at Headingley Carnegie.
Both are expected to play, with one-day skipper Collingwood available having sat out the fifth NatWest Series ODI at Lord’s today.
The Durham all-rounder is serving a four one-day game ban for England after being penalised for a slow over rate in the fourth game and could replace all-rounder Ben Harmison, who averages 15 in four-day cricket.
South African Albie Morkel continues his role as the side’s overseas player ahead of the arrival of West Indian batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who is expected to link up with the squad after the Windies’ conclude their home series against Australia in mid-July.
Seamer Graham Onions is again unavailable as the 23-year-old struggles to shake off a heel injury that caused him to miss the entire group fixtures of Durham’s Twenty20 Cup campaign.
Another player who misses out is young leg-spinner Scott Borthwick, who made his debut for the county in the Twenty20 Cup.
Yorkshire are still without fast bowlers Rana Naved-ul-Hasan and Deon Kruis who are recovering from hamstring injuries.
