Wessels jnr out for Northants

Rikki Clarke

Rikki Clarke will be hoping for another big innings for Surrey against Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire are still without wicketkeeper Riki Wessels for their Liverpool Victoria County Championship Division Two clash against Surrey at The Oval.

Following the news that director of cricket Kepler Wessels has stepped down from his position, the team must now cope without his son who is suffering from a hamstring injury.

Left-arm spin bowler Monty Panesar is ruled out due to England commitments, while India batsman Sourav Ganguly has returned home following the end of his short-term contract.

Australian batsman Chris Rogers returns from the Top End Series to replace Ganguly.

Surrey will be hoping their spin trio can force a result against struggling Northamptonshire - after the high-scoring Division Two draw against Somerset at Guildford.

They go into the Oval clash with Ian Salisbury and Nayan Doshi both in fine form and Anil Kumble set to play his second Championship match for the club as Surrey look to boost their promotion chances.

Vice-captain Rikki Clarke made 214 against Somerset and will be looking to push for an England call-up.

Mohammad Akram and Scott Newman are expected to return to the side after being omitted for the NatWest Pro40 match against Derbyshire on Sunday.
