Middlesex have been handed a timely boost ahead of their LV= County Championship trip to Warwickshire with the news that Steven Finn will be available for selection.

The England seamer was rested for Monday’s Yorkshire Bank 40 defeat against Glamorgan, but has been released for a third consecutive Division One game.

The 24-year-old’s presence has helped Middlesex to a win and a draw in their last two four-day games and, having won their season opener as well, the London side currently lie second in the table just two and a half points behind Durham.

Finn’s schedule was reviewed by the England selectors at the end of the draw with Surrey and it has been decided that he will play at Edgbaston prior to next week’s first Investec Test against New Zealand.

Rikki Clarke

Warwickshire are set to welcome back Rikki Clarke after the all-rounder missed the draw against Sussex

Toby Roland-Jones is away with England Lions at Leicester, so Tom Helm travels as fast-bowling cover.

The returning Gareth Berg, who hit a quickfire 75 against Glamorgan yesterday in the Yorkshire Bank 40, and Ollie Rayner are expected to compete for Roland-Jones' place in the side.

Paul Stirling misses out after scoring only one run in his two innings against Surrey last week.

Warwickshire have Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott available for the last time before the Investec Test series against New Zealand begins, but will have to do without Lions trio Varun Chopra, Chris Woakes and Chris Wright.

Rikki Clarke returns after a hamstring problem, but Keith Barker, Jim Troughton and Ian Westwood remain on the treatment table.

Ateeq Javid could return to the side, while Tom Allin or Recordo Gordon complete the 13-man squad and may come in for a championship debut.

In Division Two, second-bottom Leicestershire travel to last-placed Worcestershire with both sides looking for a first championship win of the season.

The Foxes are still without seam trio Nathan Buck, Anthony Ireland and Matthew Hoggard, so Ollie Freckingham and Robbie Williams will again lead the attack.

Alex Wyatt and Rob Taylor are both included after bowling well in Saturday’s YB40 over Gloucestershire, with Claude Henderson missing out.

Michael Roberts is poised to make his Championship debut for Hampshire when they travel to Bristol to face Gloucestershire.

The 24-year-old, who scored 165 against Northamptonshire in a Second XI game last week, comes in for Michael Carberry - who is another on Lions duty - with the visitors set to be otherwise unchanged.
