Elements leave SWALEC soggy
There was no play possible on the second day of Glamorgan’s LV= County Championship Division Two match against Northamptonshire at the SWALEC Stadium.
The visitors had ended day one on 241 for four, with opener Niall O’Brien unbeaten on 114.
Umpires Neil Mallender and Steve Garratt were hopeful of getting play underway around 3pm after no cricket had been possible in the morning session because of overnight rain.
However, a thunderstorm mixed with hail and heavy rain hit the ground just after lunch and, with no hope of getting the game resumed, the umpires called play off at 2:15pm.
It is the 11th full day of championship cricket Glamorgan have lost this summer.
