Panesar boosts Northamptonshire

Nicky Boje is out injured for Northamptonshire when they take on Gloucestershire

England spinner Monty Panesar will line up for promotion chasing Northamptonshire in their LV County Championship clash with Gloucestershire in Division Two.

Panesar will bolster the visitors spinning options given Nicky Boje’s absence due to injury.

Batsman Rob White is also unavailable due to injury, handing batsman Ben Howgego his first call up to the first XI.

Stephen Peters will take the reigns as captain.

Gloucestershire are expected to name the same side that drew with Derbyshire last week.

The home side are yet to register a victory in the four-day format this season and sit rooted to the foot of Division Two.

Gloucestershire could however hand a debut to former England off-spinner Richard Dawson, who has signed a temporary contract with the county.
