Middlesex are set to recall Billy Godleman or David Nash in a bid to bolster their batting line-up for the LV County Championship Division Two match against Worcestershire.
Seamer Alan Richardson could make way after taking only one wicket in the innings defeat against Warwickshire last time out as coach Toby Radford looks to freshen up his side.
Middlesex may opt to play Shaun Udal as a second spinner if conditions look to suit slow bowling in the morning.
Radford told ecb.co.uk: “I’m expecting a tough game. Worcestershire have a very good bowling attack.
“We need to show a bit more mettle with the bat so if we bat first I’m looking for an improvement there.”
Worcestershire are likely to be unchanged from the side that thumped Glamorgan last week.
Simon Jones will be eager to stake his claim for a Test recall after England's attack struggled against South Africa in the second Test.
