Yorkshire are without captain Darren Gough for their trip to Trent Bridge to face Nottinghamshire in Division One of the LV County Championship.
Gough is rested having made it clear at the start of his final season that he would not be able to play in every match.
The 37-year-old, who bowled eight overs in yesterday’s 11-run NatWest Pro40 win over Surrey, also missed Yorkshire’s last championship outing against Kent.
The White Rose also recall batsman Chris Taylor - who has overcome hamstring, calf and back injuries - in place of Zimbabwean youngster Gary Ballance.
Young spinner David Wainwright is set to be named 12th man in an otherwise unchanged line-up from the three-wicket defeat at Canterbury. Anthony McGrath will lead the side.
Nottinghamshire batsman Bilal Shafayat keeps his place at the expense of Will Jefferson, after Pro40 knocks of 67 and 41, to earn his third championship appearance of the season.
Darren Pattinson’s elevation to the England Test side, along with Stuart Broad and the injured Ryan Sidebottom (back), gives Paul Franks a place in the bowling attack alongside Charlie Shreck, Andre Adams and Mark Ealham.
Director of cricket Mick Newell said: “Bilal deserves his opportunity and he’s earned the chance to have an extended run in the side. Hopefully he’ll react positively and justify the selection.
“We gave Will every opportunity and he knows what he has to do to get back into the side and he’ll be keen to put his case forward in the second eleven.”
