Hampshire captain Shane Warne is set to return to action against Warwickshire in the LV County Championship clash at the Rose Bowl after sitting out the county’s Twenty20 Cup games.
Warne, who has recently suggested he might extend his stay at Hampshire, enjoyed a two-week break after guiding his team to the final of the Friends Provident Trophy in June.
Fellow Australian Adam Voges has returned home after his short-term contract for the Twenty20 Cup came to an end.
Warwickshire are without Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batsman Kumar Sangakkara, who remains on international duty with Sri Lanka for the third Test against Bangladesh which starts on Friday and is not due to return to England until July 25.
Seamer Dougie Brown is still missing with a detached heel muscle but South Africa spinner Paul Harris is set for his first Championship appearance of the season after playing in the Twenty20 Cup.
All-rounder Heath Streak and bowler Neil Carter have returned to action since missing the county’s last Championship match in mid-June and are in contention.
