TwelfthMan: My account

James Vince showed admirable fight in his second first-class match but his 75 could not prevent Hampshire's defeat
Darren Pattinson's 4-53 helped Nottinghamshire cruise to a convincing 191-run victory at the Rose Bowl to reclaim top spot in the LV= County Championship.
Hampshire’s 18-year-old batsman James Vince recorded a career-best 75 and captain Nic Pothas a valiant 63 not out, but there was precious little support from their team-mates as they slumped to a second successive defeat.
The damage had ultimately been inflicted the previous day when Ali Brown and Chris Read's sixth-wicket stand of 186 swung the game in Nottinghamshire's favour after Hampshire had them under pressure on 157 for five.
Needing 403 for an unlikely win, Hampshire got off to the worst possible start within the opening 30 minutes when nightwatchman James Tomlinson and opener Michael Carberry fell in successive overs.
Tomlinson was caught at short leg by Bilal Shafayat off Pattinson's bowling before Carberry was trapped lbw by Charlie Shreck.
Michael Lumb (26) and 18-year-old Vince then produced a stabilising partnership of 82 to give Hampshire some hope of salvaging a draw only for the more experienced batsman to lose his wicket just before lunch in freakish circumstances.
Lumb, in attempting to guide a Samit Patel delivery away, inadvertently chopped the ball onto his right boot and into the air to be gratefully collected by the bowler.
Chris Benham tumbled soon after the interval edging Luke Fletcher behind for Read to take a comfortable catch.
Pothas arrived at the crease to try and steady a rapidly sinking ship but once first Vince fell, top-edging Fletcher to Adam Voges and then Sean Ervine (21) with a lackadaisical cover drive down the throat of Will Jefferson the game was up.
Dominic Cork wafted at a Mark Ealham delivery to take another catch before Pattinson took the new ball after tea to clear out the Hampshire tail.
David Griffiths' off stump was uprooted before Imran Tahir followed him into the pavilion with a first-ball duck.
Hampshire will look back on the match as one of missed opportunities as Nottinghamshire in their first innings were struggling on 147 for seven before Fletcher's unlikely 92 dragged them back into the contest.
Patel's five-wicket haul during Hampshire's response then significantly relieved the pressure for the visitors to set an imposing total on the third day, which Hampshire could not meet.
