Jones in line for Somerset

Leaders Somerset are likely to recall seamer Steffan Jones for the visit to Nottinghamshire in Division Two of the LV County Championship.

Leg-spinner Michael Munday will probably miss out from the team that won comprehensively at Derby in their last county championship game.

Somerset will be keen to increase a 15.5-point lead over second-placed Notts with the top two to go up with just five games to go in the season.

Somerset have a 44-point advantage over third-placed Essex.

Nottinghamshire have added Will Jefferson, Gareth Clough and Bilal Shafayat to their squad for the Division Two top-of-the-table clash.

Somerset travel to Trent Bridge with a 15.5-point lead over Nottinghamshire, who will be without former England all-rounder Mark Ealham who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Kyle Hogg, on loan from Lancashire, is included alongside Samit Patel, who missed out on selection for England for the ICC World Twenty20 on Monday.

Notts are 28.5 points ahead of the chasing pack in the second promotion place but all-rounder Graeme Swann is keen to avoid a slip up against Somerset.

Swann said: “We are certainly not thinking about simply trying to hold what we have. If you think about third and fourth place, that’s where you’ll end up yourself come the end of the season.

“It’s not nice to find ourselves looking up at another side. We were named as pre-season favourites for the title and with a fully fit side I think that’s justified.

“If we keep picking up the points and the wins as we did in the first part of the summer, we will go up, and that’s always been our target.”

Meanwhile, Notts have signed paceman Nadeem Malik from Worcestershire on a month's loan. Malik, who joined Worcestershire from Notts four years ago, is poised to play in the clash at Trent Bridge.
