The weather continued to dominate Kent’s LV= County Championship match against Hampshire at Tunbridge Wells.

After a rain-ruined opening day restricted the action to just 15.1 overs, only 18.3 overs were sent down today before play was again abandoned with the visitors on 90 for three in their first innings.

Simon Katich moved along to 43 in Hampshire's 90 for three, sharing in a fourth-wicket stand of 53 with Liam Dawson, who was 22 not out

Hampshire - resuming on their overnight total of 50 for three - went on to grind out a further 40 runs through fourth-wicket partners Simon Katich, unbeaten on 43, and Liam Dawson, who was 22 not out.

The pair extended their unbroken partnership to 53 before the rain came down shortly before the scheduled lunch break.

With heavy cloud cover and high humidity the conditions appeared ideal for seam and swing bowling - but the Kent attack rarely beat the bat.

The hosts left the field when the rain arrived clearly frustrated by the weather and the obdurate performances of Katich and Dawson.
