Leicestershire have confirmed that fast bowler Garnett Kruger will not play for the club next season.
The 31-year-old Kolpak signing has decided that he does not want to play all year round, and will concentrate on his domestic career with the Lions in South Africa.
“Garnett came to us about three weeks ago and said he was concerned about his workload,” said Leicestershire chief executive David Smith.
“Garnett has had a number of niggles this summer and hasn't been able to bowl the way he wanted to. But he was picking up those niggles because there was no rest period for his body.
“As a strike bowler playing in the winter and the summer he felt that he had to make a choice about playing at home or in England. We understand that and have come to an agreement that he won't be coming back.
“I think you could say that this year has been a bit of a battle for him.”
Kruger played 10 LV County Championship matches for Leicestershire, taking 32 wickets at 30.31. He also played 11 limited overs games, taking 16 scalps.
He has played three one-day internationals and one Twenty20 international for South Africa to date.
