No play was possible on the second day of Lancashire's LV= County Championship Division One match against Durham at Aigburth.

Overnight rain had already ruled out any possibility of play before mid-afternoon when a lunchtime downpour put paid to any prospect of the players getting on the field today.

The washout comes as a blow to Durham's hopes of winning five championship games for the first time in the county's history, but it does even more serious damage to the Red Rose’s chances of avoiding relegation - only 12 months after winning the title.

Peter Moores’ side are 15 points from safety and will begin day three on 221 for six in their first innings.
