Rain prevails at Old Trafford

There was no play possible on day one of the LV= County Championship Division One clash between Lancashire and Somerset at Old Trafford.

Heavy overnight rain continued into the morning and with no prospect of an improvement to the sodden conditions, the umpires abandoned play for the day in the early afternoon without a ball being bowled.

Better weather is expected on Sunday, so play should be able to get underway, and Lancashire's Mal Loye will be hoping to make his first appearance of the season following a long-standing calf problem.
