LV= County Championship highlights
The 2010 LV= County Championship begins tomorrow with 12 teams in action, and for the first time the England and Wales Cricket Board will be producing video highlights of every day of championship cricket, available to watch for free online.
The first of three domestic competitions this season, the LV= County Championship is a four-day competition involving all 18 first-class counties split into two divisions with teams facing every other county in their division both home and away.
Working with production company Peacocks Media and all 18 counties, the ECB's daily highlights packages will be published overnight both on ecb.co.uk and the individual county websites - as well as syndicated to national and regional media via a new LV= County Championship channel on Perform's eplayer.
LV= County Champions in both 2008 and 2009, Durham will be hoping to become the first side in over 40 years to win three consecutive County Championships. The last side to achieve this feat was Yorkshire in 1966-68, led by Brian Close.
Durham will begin their defence of the title on April 15 when they face newly promoted Essex at the Riverside.
The LV= County Championship runs throughout the season with the final round of matches beginning on September 13.
Mike Gatting, ECB managing director cricket partnerships, said: “The LV= County Championship is an integral part of the domestic season and provides opportunities for players to learn many of the skills needed to thrive at Test level.
"It is fantastic that fans will be able to watch highlights of the competition over the course of the season and follow the fortunes of their team throughout the summer.”
David Radford, group marketing director for LV=, commented: "This is our ninth season as sponsor of the oldest competition in domestic cricket and we're very proud of our association. We'd like to wish all 18 counties the best of luck for the season."
