Durham have rewarded seamer Chris Rushworth for his five wickets in yesterday’s Clydesdale Bank 40 defeat of Nottinghamshire with a place in their squad for the LV= County Championship game with Warwickshire, starting tomorrow.

Rushworth, who has not played in the championship this year, returned a career-best 5-31 in a 91-run triumph at the Emirates Durham ICG and is among a 12-man party for the visit of Division One’s second-placed team to the same venue.

Bottom side Durham, who do not have a championship win this season, are without Michael Di Venuto and Ian Blackwell, who have Achilles and back injuries respectively, and Graham Onions, who is on England duty.

Warwickshire are in CB40 action today against Derbyshire and named the same side that beat Kent in that competition on Friday, an XI still minus paceman Boyd Rankin who has been out with a foot problem. They are also missing England batsmen Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott.

Warwickshire are a point behind championship leaders Nottinghamshire, who have played a game more, while Durham are 14 adrift of second-from-bottom Worcestershire.

Somerset could include seamer Steve Kirby, who returned to first-team action following a torn quad in today’s CB40 match with Notts, when they face Middlesex at Lord’s.

The third-placed visitors are still without captain Marcus Trescothick, who is recovering from an ankle operation.

Middlesex, who sit fourth and will go third with victory, are without England duo Andrew Strauss and Steven Finn. They are still being led by Chris Rogers while Neil Dexter seeks to regain his batting form.

New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill looks set to have made his last 2012 appearance for Division Two leaders Derbyshire - who face Leicestershire at Grace Road from tomorrow.

Guptill, who has hit 594 championship runs at an average of 49.5 this campaign and is set to return home after this contest, missed today’s CB40 meeting with Warwickshire due to a broken finger.

Derbyshire Head Coach Karl Krikken said: “Martin’s been immense.

“He hits the ball as cleanly as anyone in world cricket at present and the couple of sixes he hit to win the game against Essex the other day were something special.”

Derbyshire, who lead second-placed Yorkshire by 28 points from a game more, are also set to be without seamer Mark Footitt due to a back injury.

Second-from-bottom Leicestershire have doubts over skipper Matthew Hoggard (virus), Will Jefferson (back), Matthew Boyce (ankle), Jigar Naik (ankle) and Paul Dixey (hand), who all missed today’s CB40 fixture with the Netherlands.

Besides the three championship games starting tomorrow, there are five others this week beginning on Wednesday.

In Division One Notts play Lancashire and Sussex face Surrey. In Division Two Glamorgan meet Yorkshire, Kent tackle Hampshire and Northamptonshire take on Essex.
